English Localization Cleanup

Go To

The Administrivia policy for works created in other languages is Troping Works Created in Other Languages. At the moment, this is focused on works with official translations.

More broadly, TV Tropes has a rule that the latest English translation will normally take priority over the original (some exceptions are listed on the Administrivia page), but many pages and examples still use older titles and character names. This cleanup is to help relieve that.

For policy discussions, see the wiki talk Translation Policy thread.

For pages needing work, see here: Sandbox.English Localization Cleanup

Yes. The Volume 53 notes states that “Albareth” in Volume 52 is false one - the real one is “Alvarez”

But forget about Alvarez at all, I’m talking about renaming Tenrou Island arc to Sirius Island arc if “Sirius” is the official translation

I want to talk about Subarashiki Hibi. In tvt it's listed as Wonderful Everyday: Down the Rabbit-Hole, but that title only applies to the Steam version containing only the first chapter. The full version is named Wonderful Everyday ~Diskontinuierliches Dasein~, that subtitle being a German translation of ~Furenzoku Sonzai~. Could I move the pages to Wonderful Everyday?

Just a question about something: This Summer/June, Tokyo Xanadu eX+'s Switch release will feature a new translation that is different from the PS4/PC version. So for any changed terminology, do we refer to the Switch version or the old translation? Especially since we don't know if the translation will be implemented to those devices in a later update.

This isn't properly a localization situation because the work was never localized, but it appears the move of Syobon Action to Shobon No Action was undiscussed.

This is a difference in Japanese romanization (which should be first come first served), and the "Syobon" form is far more common, and the only time it's ever been spelled in romaji, it was "Syobon".

This came on the heels of a similar undiscussed move on Wikipedia, so it might be worth looking into that side of things as well.

I still think VideoGame.Luigis Mansion Dark Moon should be moved to VideoGame.Luigis Mansion 2. Also, VideoGame.Pikmin 2001 should be moved to VideoGame.Pikmin 1 since the Switch port was officially titled "Pikmin 1".

[up] Those aren't localization-related; this is the wrong thread.

Godzilla: Singular Point uses the spelling "Leena" for one of the characters, but Netflix officially uses the spelling "Lina". Should I change it?

Unless some other English source contradicts, it should be changed over.

[up] Netflix are the producers for the show, so wouldn't their spelling take precedent?
