MOD NOTE: TROPES BLANKET-BANNED FROM HAVING VIDEO EXAMPLES:
- Attempted Rape
- Bound and Gagged
- Epileptic Flashing Lights
- Jump Scare
- Nocturnal Emission
- Pooping Where You Shouldn't
- Potty Failure
- Sensory Abuse
- Screamer Prank
It's been discussed a lot at the Video Uploading thread that a lot of poor videos are slipping through the cracks, and that a clean-up effort is necessary if we are to combat the problem.
Common issues are:
- Videos spoiling major events from a work
- Videos not actually fitting the trope they're attached to
- Videos in which the important part doesn't happen until halfway through, with the length being ultimately pointless
- Videos that use the entire work, breaking copyright; this can be done either with one video showcasing an entire short video, or multiple videos that add up to using the entire work in piecemeal.
- Videos lacking the proper media source, or any media source at all.
- General quality problems, like audio issues or artifacting.
So, we've got our work cut out for us; but this is at least a place to discuss problems and come to solutions.

I notice the video I contributed for Greater-Scope Villain is gone from the page.
I wanna bring up the video on Samus Is a Girl
It's not an example. At all. How 4 people voted it 5 stars is fucking beyond me.
The trope is "A character is shown to be a badass BEFORE being revealed as being female"
It's patently obvious that Eowyn is a woman before she unmasks. Doubly so in the movie proper where this is an established fact long before the depicted scene. The audience knows she's a girl. It's not even clear if the Witch King himself doesn't know she a female, since he most likely uses the term "man" as in the race of man. Not the gender.
Is there a process to remove video non-examples?

Just report it here or on the other video thread. Hollering your post is also a good way to get them to see it.
The Steven Universe video for Satan Is Good is the exact same as the now-deleted video for Satanic Archetype, description included. As such, I'm requesting it's removal for the same reasons when it was on SA. The uploader should also probably be sent a PM.
The Ascended Fanon video for SpongeBob cuts off Squidward's last line, and I feel it show have something involving the creepypasta proper before showing the reference - otherwise, it's just a Jump Scare.
Since all of the spoilery videos for Steven Universe: The Movie were removed a while back, I finally got around to compiling a list of spoilery videos for the show proper. They are as follows:
- Assimilation Plot
- BFS
- Crazy-Prepared
- I've Heard of That — What Is It?
- Theme Song Reveal
- The Glomp
- Ascended Meme
- Bait-and-Switch Comment
- All for Nothing
- Does This Remind You of Anything?
- Dream Intro
- Emotionally Tongue-Tied
- Fantastic Racism
- Go to Your Room!
- Honor Before Reason
- Grayscale of Evil
- One-Hit Kill (could maybe work if it was shorted to just Yellow destabilizing Peridot)
I'm not sure on the video for Something Only They Would Say since it could easily be interpreted that the Pebbles aren't that bright/are in denial and mistake Steven for Pink because of it. But for Me, It Was Tuesday could work, but the quality is bad and there's a white bar on the side of the screen.

Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢That video does fit Satan Is Good better than Satanic Archetype, but there's still the spoiler issue. Regarding the SpongeBob Ascended Fanon video, does the fact that we can list multiple media sources mean we can splice together clips from different media?
Keet cleanupJust noting this here, as well as the ATT thread - please holler your post or ping (@/{{nombretomado}} if you need a mod to remove a video.
The Samus Is a Girl video has been changed to declined.

Wow someone is a fan of asura's wrath it's like 50 videos uploaded in a day.
I've been reading this thread for a while now and it appears that the amount of videos that get uploaded makes quality control harder. Would maybe setting a daily video limit per account (being able to upload up to, say, 3 or 5 videos a day) help, or would it be too much?
I don't think we need every single boss battle from Spyro the Dragon (1998) to illustrate "Get Back Here!" Boss, do we?

SoundCloudThe Lampshade Hanging video on Arthur looks more like Conversational Troping. Lampshade Hanging is when the work itself (in this case, Show Within a Show) draws attention to the fact that it's using a trope, but in the video, it's Brain, who's just watching the Show Within a Show, who complains about how overused and nonsensical the tropes (Complexity Addiction, Just Between You and Me, and Latex Perfection) are.
Agreed. Unfortunately mods can't move videos, only deny them. The video has to be re-uploaded under the correct trope. This seems like a really dumb system.
Keet cleanupChanged the status of the various spoilery vids to denied, though pinging ~EvilerThanThou as they must have just received a bunch of PM's.
Also denied the Arthur video and noted it suits Conversational Troping better.
I accept the need to keep out spoiler content, but there is something that's been bothering me. When you upload or edit a video, you have the option to check a box that says "Featured Video", which makes that the main video displayed on the trope page. Below that is a box called "Contains Spoilers", meaning that whoever starting this video project in the first place knew spoilers was going to be a topic of discussion. I've checked those boxes and I haven't seen it effect the display in any way.
So I gotta ask: what does the "Contains Spoilers" box do exactly?
Fair question. I don't know. I'm asking around.
So, it is a vestigial tail. Admins were figuring out what exactly they wanted this to do to the uploaded video - whether that meant tagging it with a warning, or blurring the thumbnail, etc. - but did not have it hammered out when videos were rolled out. Then, it took a backburner to other issues, and never got resolved.
They're seeing about hiding it until it actually does something.
I think the Steven Universe example of Star-Spangled Spandex needs to be removed because of the spoiler of White calling Steven "Pink".
I have things to do and daddy issues to repress!^ I'm swapping it but it's really starting to feel like nit-picking at this point.
Oh, gee, sorry if it feels like it...
I have things to do and daddy issues to repress! In my opinion, The Total Distortion video entry on Non-Standard Game Over would fit better on Have a Nice Death, since the lyrics are all about that. Make sure to extend the actual song if it does end up making the switch. Also, as of this writing, there's no videos on Have a Nice Death, and that particular song is one of the most popular examples of it. Plus, the song isn't even exclusive to when you get killed by the Guitar Warrior (which is what putting the video in Non-Standard Game Over suggests); it plays in every death, but with different animations over it. I would advise to keep the Guitar Warrior version, though.

The Girls' Frontline entry on Orgasmically Delicious should be on the main page, instead on a characters subpage (the AR subpage).
The Zootopia video on Batman Gambit is basically the movie's climax. Besides showing how the villain gets foiled, it also spoils the villain, which is a huge part of the film's mystery.
Hazbin Hotel just has the pilot out, right? I feel like we're skirting the copyright line with this many videos from it.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢How effective is copyright when the makers uploaded it free to view on Youtube?
Edited by EvilerThanThou on Nov 1st 2019 at 10:10:05 AM
Well full length YouTube vids have been removed before. Is it monetized?
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢The last 32 seconds of the From the Mouths of Babes example from Ouran High School Host Club are irrelevant to the trope, and the elevator scene from Neon Genesis Evangelion should be on Leave the Camera Running instead of Overly Long Gag and have the source listed.
Fixed.

A video for Parental Fashion Veto is only on Alicia Silverstone instead of whatever film or show she was in.Fixed; it now lists Clueless as the source.
