Eric, did you take a crap on my desk?
"OH MY GOD! THAT MAN CRAPPED ALL OVER MY ROOM! IT'S EVERYWHERE! I KNOW IT'S HIS 'CAUSE THERE'S HOT DOG PIECES IN IT! OH GOD! IT'S BETWEEN THE MATTRESS AND THE BOX SPRING! IT'S SMUSHED INTO THE OUTLETS! IT'S UNDER THE CARPET! IT'S IN MY DVD TRAY! IT'S TRYING TO PLAY IT! IT'S WHERE THE BATTERIES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IN MY SMOKE DETECTOR! IT'S BETWEEN EVERY PAGE OF MY BOOKS! IT LOOKS LIKE MY PILLOW IS IN MY PILLOWCASE BUT IT IS NOT!"
Steve Smith: American Dad!: "Big Stan On Campus"

As humans, we have evolved to the point where what was once normal, i.e. using the bathroom in a place other than... well, the bathroom, is considered abnormal behavior. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that it doesn't happen.

In this trope, a character, rather than defecating in a toilet, does so in a place other than a toilet, or mentions a time that they defecated in a place other than a toilet.

An example of Toilet Humor and Vulgar Humor. May come as a result of a Potty Emergency. If the character defecates in their pants, the trope becomes Potty Failure. If they defecate in the pool, it crosses into Putting the Pee in Pool. Compare Intentional Mess Making. May be a supertrope of Excrement Statement. In some instances the character may Go to the Euphemism. Compare with Urine Trouble where a character does this but with releasing urine instead. If the character poops in nature, then it crosses into Nature Tinkling. If it's a non-anthropomorphic animal that does this, they're letting out Road Apples. If the feces are weaponized, see Dung Fu. Burning Bag of Poop is a subtrope if the feces in question belongs to a human or non-anthropomorphic animal. People who do this are sometimes referred to as "Phantom Shitters."

Do Not Try This at Home (or really, any public area): Human faeces are considered to be a biological health hazard, not to mention the sight and/or smell can provoke nausea or even vomiting in other people. There are also laws against doing this in many locales — jail time is possible and you could even end up on a sex offenders register for indecent exposure.

Please do not add any video examples to this trope.
