I googled pictures of horse udders because I wasn't sure if the centaurs in Looming Gaia were anatomically accurate.

When you're an artist who draws Funny Animals (and other beings on various scales of the Sliding Scale of Anthropomorphism), you often find yourself looking up things like this.

Also, raccoons have a fairly wide range of color variations. Makes sense, given their wide habitat range.
