Here are my Top 3 tied, in no particular order.
I was strangled to death in a dream. Notably, this is the only nightmare that had me waking up and screaming for my Mom and Dad in the middle of the night.
Multiple dreams where I wind up stark naked, for whatever bloody reason.
And then there was a dream where I ran some people over while I was driving in a car, and overspeeding no less, for no bloody reason.
I occasionally have nightmares about my friends distancing themselves from me, or my family dying.

Oh, I believe in yesterdayA few months ago, I had a nightmare where I bought some things with my own money, and my dad's ex-wife for some reason got really mad and tried to strangle me and shove my head underwater while my dad kept begging her to stop.
I rarely have nightmares (at least ones that can accurately be called horrifying instead of just strange), but that one fucked me up for a little while, mainly because she really was fairly abusive.
Cold turkey's getting stale. Tonight I'm eating crow.I've had a lot of awful nightmares, but the worst one would probably be that one time I dreamt that my dog had turned into a lump of pulverized flesh and was slowly dying in my arms as I cried and begged the world to let her live.
I can relate, I dream about my cat dying or getting lost every once in a while.
Oh, I believe in yesterdayI'm kinda similar, since the worst nightmare I ever had was at eleven and my grandfather had accidentally decapitated my cat.
For every low there is a high.a false awakening dream that kept going on and on
One time I had a dream where my dad had to be euthanized. Another time I had a dream where my mom kept saying this magic word that caused me immense pain.
Hqamiliciousi keep getting dreams of my little brother getting injured and it destroys me every time. today i dreamt that my little brother kept getting weak and nearly died, so i checked his blood and it didnt look very good
Bayonetta, you bury your loneliness deep down in your eyes [note: at all times, the steel eel pilot is a salmon] (they/them)I once had a nightmare as a teenager that I was running down a hallway and a man with a gun was trying to find me and kill me.
I had a nightmare where Majin Buu did his Human Extinction attack, and I was the only survivor. It was up to me to bury the bodies of everyone else.
I'm neutral about the meme, but she was beautiful.I was watching a goofy character a friend and I made up as kids slowly waste away and die. Like, remember the "death" of Bing Bong from Inside Out? It was kind of like that, just instead of quickly disappearing, the character was starving to death in a grody hotel room. Yeah.
I had many nightmares throughout the years (which I will share with you in future posts) but my WORST nightmare up-to-date was at the beginning of this week (either monday or tuesday, I don't remember correctly since I was hesistant about writing this dream during the day I dreamed it). I dreamed about group of werehyenas who live on the Wild West and under their human forms steal cattle from humans (so this makes them rustlers), and after leading them to their village, slaughter them for food. At the end of my dream one of the werehyenas under their human form who was chopping off cow's head via guillotine told the other one (this scene was from his POV so it look like I was there instead of him) that terrifying noises were coming from the barn. He came there and saw a bloody floor with a severed bloody human head. When he looked straight, he saw the perpetrator of this bloody massacre - a giant Hyaenodon (looking like the one from Prehistoric Kingdom) who immediately jumped out towards him with its mouth open with indention of killing him. At the moment his eyes saw the gaping mouth of Hyaenodon, I wake up, utterly terrified. I later concluded that the reason for this dream was seeing thumbnail for the scene from Sausage Party where one of the characters shows decapitated head of redheaded guy to other foods, before I went to sleep. And if you didn't learned it yet, I am fucking terrified of this movie, and for good reasons.
(Btw, I am new troper here and this my first post on this discussion).

When I was fifteen, I dreamed I was part of a volunteer fire department. Because of a bad judgment call I made, we were late in getting to the fire, and by that point the structure was fully involved. I saw the inhabitant looking at me through one of the windows. His expression showed such utter horror, despair, and emptiness that it woke me up immediately and haunted me for weeks. To top it off, the man's name was Eugene Goossens, the name of an artist working on Suske en Wiske, so I couldn't even read comic books without having upsetting memories.
