Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

Alright. Found that clip I was talking about before.
Man. The Sentinels can see what the rest of humanity refuses to, even if they're still murder machines.
And in the comics, they're becoming sentient enough to start hating both humans and mutants.
One Strip! One Strip!I could see Bastion emerging in the mainline MCU from the aborted DOFP timeline as a mashup of his own character and the Fury - the echoes of the timeline eventually managed to gain sentience and build a body, and now Bastion exists as some kind of machine messiah trying to retroactively seed the construction of the Sentinels in the mainline MCU. I suspect that they'll go with "DOFP was only possible because of Loki's meddling", so that could be a natural consequence.
I feel Master Mold in the mcu is unlikely. Bastion was created spefically because Mold as a concept of giant talking robot wasnt great in a modern context. Plus a soft spoken Psychopath is way more interesting
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Doesn't have to be Mold, it could be the manifestation of the will driving the Singerverse Sentinels made form. There's gotta be consequences to temporal meddling, you can't just erase an entire timeline.
Just the other day I was wondering if there ever was a storyline in which Ultron takes control of the Sentinels.
It would be cool to see a storyline where that happens. Maybe his algorithm tells him that he will never wipe out humanity unless he eliminates the next step in human evolution first.
During Annihilation: Conquest he did took over the Kree Sentries, so there's a sort of precedent.
He took over the Phalanx in that same storyline too. But that didn't pan out since Ultron didn't really give a shit about them either.
Ultron just doesn't really play well with others, including other AI.

Disgusted, but not surprisedUltron taking over the Sentinels is pretty much how the comics Age of Ultron happened.
Master Mold is interesting because like... why is he a giant human shaped robot exactly? Does he stand up and fight himself?
i feel like you could have a sentient moving factory that creates Sentinels and call it M Aster Mold. It doesn't have to be a Beeg Sentinel, does it?
Kaze ni Nare!He did try to stand up and either flee or fight in the animated series twice. First attempt was where you get the now-tired joke about him being plugged to his chair while his lair gets flooded and the second attempt was more successful but Xavier rams a Blackbird full of explosives onto him. They could choose to use Mother Mold from Krakoa Age instead of Classic Master Mold where the former is instead a giant Sentinel head that forms the core of a circular space station that spits out near-endless waves of Sentinels.

Classic Master Mold was always a bit too silly for me but I loved the version from episode 5 of X-Men 97’. Something like that could be absolutely terrifying in live action.

Master Mold's thing is that he's a battle factory. He can constantly create new Sentinels and because he's a giant robot that means he can easily defend himself from attacks.
Also I just remembered in other Mutant villains done well, the Shadow King has a fantastic portrayal in the Legion TV show, being the shows primary antag.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I figured that he's the main schematic that the other sentinels are based on. You need a mold to base them off of, and he's the master copy.
Given his name, that's probably exactly what the intention is.
But like... thats not how molds work. XD Car factories aren't shaped like giant cars (unfortunately)
Kaze ni Nare! Its impressive how Legion finally gave us our first true live-actioj rendition of a battle between 2 Omega Level mutants, between David and the Shadow King.
Even more so since it was done a TV shows budget, meaning it accomplished something not even a big budget movie like Dark Phoenix was ever able to do.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Chris Hemsworth feels responsible for Love and Thunder's humor and improve. I think a less silly Thor movie is needed after that.
Mileena MadnessMaster Mold as an inscrutable god-machine using Nimrod as an avatar is kinda what I had in mind.
I'm of the opinion that Love and Thunder is the worst MCU film by a mile, and I definitely agree that Thor and his supporting cast feel like SNL versions of themselves.
Say what you will about Dark World, but at least that movie took what was happening seriously, even if the material itself wasn't very interesting.
Trust no one.I don't think they can get away with Nimrod. The connotations around that name... like, it's too silly. I don't like playing the "too silly" card because the MCU has proven it can make silly work, but Nimrod is too far over the line. It's too serious of a character with too stupid of a name.
Yes I do know he's named after a Biblical hunter. That's not what that name sounds like, though.
As someone who's never read an X-Men comic, that was my exact reaction to the name.
I asked on this forum a few days ago: "Who in the actual hell is Bastion? I've never read a comic, help." and the response I got was "He's a fusion of Master Mold and Nimrod" as if A. That would clear anything up, and B. it just made me think "A fusion of Master Mold and an idiot?" xD

Kaze ni Nare!Easiest way to do it is to change Nimrod's name a bit. Namrud would suffice.
It’s hilarious how Bugs Bunny single handedly changed the perception of a word
Forever liveblogging the AvengersOr just 'Nim' would do
New theme music also a boxBut there'll be confusion with Nim's Island.
One thing they can do is use the character without ever giving his name. Like, Gargantos wasn't named in MoM outside of promotional material, and Man-Thing was never said in Werewolf by Night.
I want goofy robo speak Sentinals and edgy 90's looking Sabertooth. I just think humans being dumb enough to make killer robots having them programmed to say stuff like I AM STILL PLUGGED IN works for me.
