Can you post an example of what you're looking for?

Uhhhhh.. well... I don't listen to this type of music, so I can't really help you, but my best guess would be to poke around in the Symphonic Metal genre.

Hey French-speaking tropers there! I have a bit of an odd request.

I want to participate in a local singing contest hosted by our French culture center. The winner goes to Paris. There's a problem though, the theme of the contest is contemporary French music, and most of the French songs in my repertoire are rather old and I have no familiarity with contemporary francophone music scene.

My voice is baritone, vocal range D2-G4, so I'm looking for 21st century pop songs in French language. Preferably something bluesy. Rock is fine as well, as long as it has clean vocals.

Spiral out, keep going.

I'm looking for songs similar in style to "Under The Milky Way" by The Church - the music podcast that made me get into this song again compared it to two other songs I already knew, "Love Song" by The Cure and "Killing Moon" by Echo and the Bunnymen. Doesn't necessarily have to be from the 80s like those examples though.

Since it's Project Regeneration's release week, here's a little Static-X throwback.

I'm looking for whatever genre this song is from, and any place I can listen to more of it. It's sung by Momoko Kikuchi. I guess it counts as "J-pop" but I'm unsure.

This sounds like something that would have been the ending theme to an 80's or early 90's anime.

You're looking for City Pop, which is all over Youtube. Some names to get you started: Toshiki Kadomatsu, Minako Yoshida, CINDY, Meiko Nakahara, and Anri.

Does anybody know any groups who do music in Danish? I'm trying to learn and I think some music might help. I'm somewhat flexible on genre; I listen to Pop, Rock, Folk, and Electric.

[up][up] Of the Wand and the Moon are a danish neo-folk act. They have a few songs in Danish.

I'm looking for something to listen to while I work on an art piece. Starset's "Into the Unknown" has the space-y, Did We Just Have Tea with Cthulhu? vibe I'm looking for, but I need something without words that I can concentrate to for an hour or two, perhaps game music or something. Any suggestions?

This one shouldn't be too hard....I'd like some more dreamy jangle pop in the vein of The Ocean Blue, The Church, The Sundays, etc. Bonus points if it's a perfect spring break/summer soundtrack.

I recommend C418 - Excursions. Some songs may be long, but they have the nicest compositions. Some are beautiful, some catchy, all great.

I’m currently craving eerie, dreamlike melancholy and finely-crafted lyrics, and what I have right now is from Poets of the Fall (like Roses or Lift, among others) and Second Person (like Wood).

when it’s time for curtain call,
just before the shadows
fall like a leaf in the wind, on the ocean of
blue, like your eyes in the twilight theatre
where symphonies play in a world without sound
we’re given and denied

Any suggestions?

[up][up] i'm not too well-versed in EDM to know what it is exactly, but based on definitions this looks to be progressive house? possibly with elements of vocal trance too.

Does anyone know of any Spotify playlists of instrumental tracks to read fantasy novels to (i.e. one with tracks for romance scenes, training montages, spooky scenes, battle scenes)? Would really prefer if it's not made up of tracks from mainstream blockbuster films.

This one called "Fantasy Ambiance" has some tracks from movies, but it's mostly video game music. I also found a playlist literally titled "Fantasy Book Reading Background".

It might be worth a shot to check out stuff recommended as tabletop background music, e.g. Erdenstern or something like this.
