Who here was officially diagnosed with autism or Asperger's?

I was diagnosed with Asperger's at a very young age (don't remember the exact age though). I do have some difficulty picking up on cues at times and have a tendency to hyperfixate.

I was diagnosed when I was about 4 or 5 (shocking, seeing as I’m a girl). I tend to hyperfixate deeply on things at times and have a picky diet, as well as preferring solitude.

I was. Diagnosed in middle school. Before that they thought I had ADHD.

I've been diagnosed with Asperger's ever since I was small.

Diagnosed with Asperger's for as long as I can remember. Although TBH my anxiety disorder is a lot more relevant to my life these days.

I've been diagnosed with autism since I was very young, but didn't really know it until I was about 11-12.

Was misdiagnosed with ADHD as a kid and put on Ritalin. Only until the summer before high school, I was told I had Asperger’s as opposed to ADHD and taken off.

I’m 30 and still find it difficult to get my own voice and have a tendency to go on about my insecurities. My parents and social media (including here) are fed up with me.

Informed last year

me! before i was diagnosed with aspergers i was excluded a lot and teachers thought that i was just insufferable

also i feel like i can use "asperger's" without the connotation that comes with it, but if i really have to i would shorten it to "aspie"

I was diagnosed with PDD-NOS at the age of 3. It's still listed as that in my medical record to this day.

For a long time, though, people thought I had Asperger's. Probably because it was a more common term than PDD-NOS. Nowadays I just use "autistic".

Ahhhh was my childhood a living hell. But hey, my autism helped me realize what people I'm comfortable hanging out with and what I'm destined to do in life. It's the social anxiety that's a real bitch.

Classic case here, been diagnosed since the age of 3 years old. Nice to see plenty of others here have been diagnosed with it, too. :D

Me. At age 10.

Yeah. I was diagnosed early but wasn’t told until I was 11. My childhood made a lot more sense. I don’t really like telling people though because I don't want it to define me in the end.

I was diagnosed with High-Functioning Autism at 1 Year and 11 Months.

I'm not sure, but I think my brother is autistic(like me).

Diagnosed in 1999, so around 17.

I was 3, and unfortunately it's not the autism that makes me a super genius like you see in most movies or TV shows.

I wasn't diagnosed until I was in my junior year of high school (11th grade), maybe 16 years old or so.

Before that, sometimes I'd consider that I might have autism, but then I'd think, "No, I'm just making excuses. Things would be way worse if I actually was autistic. I'm just weird by my own fault, and I need to try harder and stop feeling sorry for myself."

I kept thinking that from 4th grade to 11th grade, until I took the test, and surprise! I really was autistic. I wish I'd been diagnosed earlier; I could've gotten a lot more support at school.

Thanks, it came from years of going to school and witnessing girls who couldn’t/didn’t mask get bullied way worse than I ever did.

Nowadays I don't really try to mask, and even back then, my "masking" was just mostly being very quiet and observing things from a distance. That behavior came from me taking the teachers' "don't talk in class" command way too literally, but that's another story lol

I was diagnosed with autism when I was 11

I was 3 when it happened.

Why didn't I get the autism where I would get straight A's and could easily solve a complicated algebra problem, like you'd see in many TV shows and movies?
