Should be random, but I haven't played the game in a while so my advice is to get the other spirits first, so those will show up more often.

My problem is, aside from the first and fourth Spirit Events, I have every single Spirit in the game. And yet those two events refuse to spawn.

The only two spirits I’m missing are the ones unlocked in Wo L and I don’t want to play through it again.

TBH, I don't care about getting every spirit.

I’ve been playing a lot of Minecraft recently and the idea of Minecraft World in the next game having a new variant based off the Mario Mashup Pack came to mind.

I’m thinking of selling my copy of Ultimate.

You know what would be cool? If Nintendo released a compilation bundle of all the games from the first one to the Wii U one on the system.

64 and Melee I can see getting rereleased. Brawl-onwards would be difficult due to needing to get the licenses for the third party characters.

It’s why I think Brawl wasn’t put on the Wii U eShop.

And if they have to relicense 3rd party to re-release the game, they might think instead to might as well just make a new game.

That is the key reason why Nintendo will make a new Smash game next, instead of just re-releasing Ultimate.

Pretty much. If you have to do all that legal hullabaloo for a character, wouldn't it make better sense to use them in a new game rather than just a past game being released again?

Or Nintendo goes the Madio Kart route and carries Ultimate to Switch 2 via further DLC.

I'm sure getting the Square-Enix third parties alone would not be worth the legal headache.

Oh man, the thought of Subspace Emissary being stuck on the Wii forever makes me real sad. Especially since we haven't gotten another "real" Adventure mode. There's nothing else like it.

Likewise, Smash Run being stuck on the 3DS.

Smash Tour, though, can stay right where it is on the Wii U.

Ha ha, yeah. Although "Mario Party, but with Smash fights instead of mini-games" sounds like a fun idea, if it were done right. Imagine boards based on different Nintendo franchises, with NPCs and special events and stuff.

Maybe the adventure mode could be a gameplay aspect style of each series similar to Melee.

Now, what if they did do SSE again with cutscenes and the like but only used half the cast?

I'd sooner take SSE with the full cast but relatively minimal cutscenes. They're neat but I care more about going through the stages and fighting enemies than I do the cutscenes.

So in SSE, what was the point of saving either Peach or Zelda if they were going to do nothing before getting captured anyways? They don't even get into any meaningful fights, they run around for a few minutes before the princess you save gets taken because Kirby got distracted by something else.

I found it funny how SSE was scrounging around for villains to use when Wolf was right there.

Well that's because Wolf was one of the last minute additions to the game.

Wolf was a last minute addition to the roster, IIRC.

I like that Brawl is the only game to ever make Wario feel like a real threat, but Wolf would've probably been better in the role. He's already hired muscle for the villain in his home series.

At that point in Star Fox though, Wolf was helping fight the villains.

And yet they managed to work Sonic in a role who wasn't last minute, but put in mid-development.

Don't really understand why third-party content is that much difficulty other than Square Enix. Like aren't the others on good-esque terms with Nintendo?
