• Solo-Character Run: You can do this by choice, or deliberately invoke this by selecting the "Lone Wolf" talent at birth - you gain a bonus to all your stats but you can never recruit any permanent companions (though you can still use summoning magic and clone yourself).
• They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: The May 2021 update was controversial for increasing the games already hard difficulty:
  • The "Lone Wolf" talent was nerfed. It previously increased all stats by two, this was reduced to one.
  • Stairs are now one way. You can no longer retreat up the stairs if you end up surrounded by enemies when you enter a new level.
  • The number of times you can enter the shop per level is now limited. After three visits, the teleporter may break on any subsequent attempt, limiting your ability to retreat there to rest.
  • Enemies can now track you more easily and are more aggressive when searching for you, further limiting your ability to disengage from overwhelming odds.
