YMMV / Zhirinovsky's Russian Empire

Go To

  • Harsher in Hindsight: The timeline was started in 2012 and finished early in 2014. Right after that came a real world crisis with secession of Crimea from Ukraine and annexation by Russia after a dubious referendum, plunging relations between Russia and the West to their lowest since the Cold War with no solution in sight.
    • Even more so after February 2022, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine with the aim of subjugating the country. And in an eerie coincidence, the real Zhirinovsky died after the invasion began.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In one scene, a UIS diplomat comically accuses his Estonian counterparts of being Nazis. A year after the scene was posted, the Russians in real life notably accused Ukrainian pro-democracy activists of being Neo-Nazis when they rose up in protest against their corrupt government.
  • Moral Event Horizon: The massacre at Grozny for the UIS, both in and out of Universe.
