- Cry for the Devil: Jirou may be an unrepentant Mad Scientist Knight Templar, but what happened to his son and the way in which he died are definite Tear Jerkers.
- Moral Event Horizon: Jirou, when he has a large group of high school girls murdered in order to cure Kouga's idealism.
- Romantic Plot Tumor: Jin and Hanako's relationship comes off as forced, rushed, and amazingly unnecessary.
- At least in the anime anyway... As of Chapter 190 in the manga she may be the only reason he can recover his heart... or cementing his new state as a brainless unstoppable killing machine. In Chapter 197, the former wins.
