YMMV / Yosemite Sam

• Badass Decay: After Elmer started to become too sympathetic, Yosemite Sam was created to give Bugs a stronger opponent who wouldn't earn the audience's sympathy. As time went on though, Sam had lost so many times that this same problem would come into play. Of course, unlike Elmer, Sam is such an unrepentant villain that his purpose to make us root for Bugs is usually still working, even if his constant failures do invite a level of pity.
• Jerkass Woobie: While he's one of the most unpleasant Looney Tunes antagonists, his many pathetic losses have earned him a bit of sympathy. Some might even sympathize with his persistent frustration as well, such as when another character bosses him around.
• Love to Hate: All part of Sam's charm. He's a thoroughly unpleasant scoundrel, which meant that audiences had no problem laughing at his frequent Laser-Guided Karma.
• Rooting for the Empire: While it can occasionally happen given how often he loses and even how often his tirades of Angrish may amuse audiences, Sam is usually a pretty good Aversion of this, as he's a far bigger Jerkass than the other Looney Tunes antagonists.
