- Character Shilling: Aphrodite tells Xena she can’t heal Gabrielle and Eve without Athena’s blessing. Then Ares does just that by giving up his Godhood. It was painfully obvious it was done to make Ares look good and worthy of Xena’s love at the expense of making Aphrodite too selfish to give up her Godhood for Gabrielle’s life.
