  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The scene in The Box where Susan is eaten by her family happens and ends with no explanation or lead-in.
  • Complete Monster (Her Only Living Son): Satan himself fathers Andy to bring about the end times. Having spent his child's entire life tormenting the boy so he inflicts suffering upon others, when Andy refuses his destiny on his eighteenth birthday, Satan kills him along with his mother Cora in a rage.
  • Critical Dissonance: The film has a 72% score on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, but only 18% of audiences enjoyed it. On Metacritic, the film has a 64 while having a user score of 3.6. It also has a 4.6 on IMDB.
  • Esoteric Happy Ending: For Her Only Living Son, with both Andy and Cora having died in defiance of Andy’s father (Satan), it can be assumed that they are now in Heaven. That is, unless...
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • Susan's nightmare in The Box, not just for the Body Horror, but for the terrible Slasher Smile she gives as her family eats her alive.
    • The concept of The Box in general, especially if someone you know is dealing with an eating disorder.
    • The ending of Don't Fall; Jess, trying to get away from Demon!Gretchen, falls off a cliff, breaking her leg in the process, as she tends to it, blood drips on her forehead, she looks up... and Demon!Gretchen is walking down the cliff face to get to her.
  • Nightmare Retardant: The Birthday Party revolves around a woman trying to hide the fact her husband has died during their daughter's birthday party, but it's difficult to find scary at all due to the absence of any real threats, the lack of a spooky atmosphere (outside of a handful of cheap Jump Scares) and the sheer ridiculousness of the story (the woman could resolve the issue quite easily by calling the police, but chooses to try and hide the corpse in increasingly complicated and outlandish ways). It works a lot better as a straight-up Black Comedy than as a horror story, even though it's part of a horror anthology film.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: The film is much Lighter and Softer compared to some of the more popular horror anthologies released recently, this drew confusion and ire from most horror fans.
