  • Enjoy the Story, Skip the Game: Reviews generally praised the characters and writing, but found the game's platformer mechanics unresponsive, awkward, and boring.
  • Epileptic Trees: Due to her conspicuous absence in many scenes in promo material combined with Kodaka's long-standing tradition of killing off a seemingly important character first, a lot of people have taken to suspecting that Vanilla is actually the Sacrificial Lamb. For the most part, they were right, although it turns out she's being hidden somewhere else.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: This isn’t the first time Ai Kayano voiced a bubbly ghost girl whom was invisible to her friends.
  • Inferred Holocaust: It's never speculated how many people died to whatever destroyed Tokyo (Even if the meteor-like object was an illusion, something clearly destroyed Tokyo at some point), and that's assuming that Tokyo is the only place to face that much destruction...
  • It Was His Sled: The First-Episode Twist about the Game of Fate being canceled out of nowhere was originally a huge shock to many players when the game was first released on Apple Arcade, but due to both the passage of time and the marketing for the Nintendo Switch version not even bothering to hide it, said reveal has since become one of the most commonly known aspects of the game's story.
  • Funny Moments: The hilariously abrupt end of the "deadly game" comes with Pai running in from the side of the screen and punting Pielope mid-speech.
  • Moe: Pretty much all of the Go-Getters Club but Pochi probably stands out the most.
  • So Okay, It's Average: More or less the general consensus of the game. It’s not regarded as a terrible game but it also doesn’t have a particularly vocal fanbase. It’s just kind of seen as…there by many people which is probably not helped by how off putting the actual game can feel as apposed to how it was marketed for the longest time.
  • Tough Act to Follow: The game itself is a victim of this, as many have noted the game is rather different from the creators' previous games, therefore it has a hard time living up to its expectations of the previous works. Not helping is that those who did not play the game (or only played the demo) have criticized it for being Danganronpa with kids as the participants even though the game does a Bait-and-Switch and is now a cross country journey back to Japan.
  • Toy Ship: Pochi x Nyoro, Aniki x Pai and Reycho x Vanilla to name a few. A Ho Yay example involves Reycho x Pochi.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: The Go Getters Club briefly come off as this during Pochi's reveal as the traitor and even prior to that. They (except for Nyoro and Vanilla) notably call Pochi useless despite the fact he’s been helpful a handful of times and then call him out for being a traitor despite him frequently controlling Reycho to save them. Fortunately, they all realize how wrong they were and go to save Pochi after he’s been captured.
