  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Apparently Caedmon is Tyor's father. The announcement comes out of nowhere and is never brought up again.note
  • Complete Monster: The wicked Donar is the vilest of the three sorcerers. Killing many in the kingdom, and having villages raided and slaughtered for slaves, Donar also forces slaves to participate in gladiator matches for his amusement. Fond of Human Sacrifice, Donar attempts to sacrifice a woman for failing to seduce the hero Tyor before trying to corrupt Tyor himself.
  • Fight Scene Failure: Arguably, all of them. It's also worth mentioning that most of the props are painfully obvious wooden swords with inch-thick blades painted silver.
Jonah: Okay, so it's not the greatest fight scene ever, but you really gotta give them credit. This was made in the days before talent or staging.
  • Sequelitis: Although usually considered better than the original (see Surprisingly Improved Sequel below) it has absolutely nothing to do with its predecessor, aside from being in the same genre and using a few shots from the original movie in the opening montage. They could have at least named the Big Good wizard Simon to give it some slight tie to the original.
  • Surprisingly Improved Sequel: It's still a bad movie, but at least this one managed to attract some competent actors like David Carradine, Lana Clarkson, and Sid Haig, and reunited two early Corman mainstays with Mel Welles and Charles B. Griffith.
    • The script also flows a lot smoother and there's more original content/less dependency on Stock Footage.
    • The stock footage they do use is also better integrated into the plot, instead of being dreams and/or stuff the wizards are watching in scrying pools.
