YMMV / Wild ARMs: Million Memories

Go To

  • Awesome Moments:
    • The creators for having the sheer audacity to have Rudy seemingly betray everyone and destroy the world within the opening cutscene.
    • The creators do it again at the very end by having Siegfried protect Rudy from Mother's attacks.
    • Rudy gets one hell of a moment at the end. With Brittany's help, he creates an ARM based on memories the Power of Friendship. He then lets off a blast powerful enough to knock Mother to the ground and break her hold over the Memory Maze. This has the added bonus of bringing the rest of the heroes back from the dead.
  • Ending Fatigue: So, you've defeated Mother and the Quarter Knights, and Cecilia has the Tear Drop back. Have fun watching cutscene after cutscene revealing what each of the remaining villain factions are doing, and what various side characters are up to, even if they had little to no impact on the story as a whole.
  • Funny Moments: Judecca losing his glasses in the final fight against him, then falling off a cliff.
  • Heartwarming Moments: In the final chapter After Mother has erased all his friends and Rudy is left alone and in despair, Zepet shows up to comfort and guide him in his lowest moments like the loving grandfather he is.
  • Over Shadowed By Awesome: Any villain faction that is not the Quarter Knights and Mother, ends up being this. (Partially because the opening cutscene implies they could actually win if they got a hold of Rudy, which Siegfried does.
    • Cocytus are treated as secondary antagonists. They're still a threat but they are nowhere near on the same level as the demons, partially because the demons are capable of completely destroying Filgaia while Cocytus focus primarily on conquest.
    • The Prophets and Asgard work for the Quarter Knights.
    • Brioniac only get a brief cameo at the end.
    • The Veruni keep fighting the Quarter Knights, and keep getting their asses kicked.
    • The only villains from XF are the Evil Chancellors, and that part of the plot is mostly resolved before the halfway point- and only occurs because the Quarter Knights abducted Alexia.
    • Blazer and Beatrice are the only ones who come close to the Quarter Knights in terms of threat, but the game was shut down before either of them really got to do anything.
  • Shocking Moments: You'd think a game based on six others with various plot beats set out would be devoid of these, but...
    • The opening cutscene reveals Rudy has betrayed everyone, and the result is The End of the World as We Know It. Fortunately, this is a vision of the future. Unfortunately, the vision comes true.
    • And when you get the context of the opening cutscene? It was Siegfried's doing all along, not Mother's. And does he use magic? Brainwashing? Any fancy mad science courtesy of Alhazad? Nope, just good old fashioned manipulation and preying on Rudy's desperation when he's at his most vulnerable.
    • The team up between Rudy and Siegfried is strange enough, but when you remember Siegfried betrayed Mother in the first game, it's not unexpected. Then Siegfried shields Rudy from her attacks. And after that, he sacrifices himself to protect the heroes- because anything is better than the destruction of Filgaia. One of Rudy's dialogue options after this is a Stunned Silence, and for good reason.
    • The Guardians allowing Siegfried to return from the dead. Harken and Zed are understandable as they are the more sympathetic villains from the first game, but Siegfried?
  • Tear Jerker: Mother coats the entire Memory Maze in darkness causing it to fade away. This then extends to your entire party who disappear one by one. Soon it's just Rudy and Cecilia but she starts fading away too. Rudy tries to cheer her up but can do absolutely nothing to save her. Finally she fades away too and Rudy is left alone, heartbroken and most likely wracked with guilt.
