YMMV / Wednesday's Infidelity

Go To

  • Funny Moments: While the topics it conveys are indeed heavy, there's still bound to be hilariously dumb humor.
    • "Leak ma balls", full stop. A spectacularly done Take That! to mod leakers involving Mickey and Satan rapping against a pair of leakers at a bar.
    • What sound accompanies Satan when he shows up in "Hellhole"? This scream.
    • After Minnie snaps Mick out of it, BF just stands there blinking, as if he just saw a Deus ex Machina take place. Cartoon blinking sound effects even play!
  • Fridge Brilliance:
    • At least one commenter has realized how the main story's "good" ending is a metaphor for addiction and the possibility of going sober. "Sunsets" is a happy reprieve from Mickey's drug fueled psychosis, and it looks like everything is going to look up for him, only for Satan to subvert his happy ending, killing him anyway. Even when it seems like you'll be able to go clean, there's always the threat of falling back into old habits, no matter how bright everything looks for you in the moment.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Oswald falls into this category due to the rising popularity of D-Sides character swaps after Mighty.ZIP.
  • Fandom Rivalry: With Sunday Night Suicide, as fans of Wednesday's Infidelity regard it as superior to the former in many ways, due to how the mod handles Adaptation Expansion of the original Creepypasta (a fully animated cutscene of Mickey's backstory over the latter's All There in the Manual approach), the higher quality sprites (including an era-appropriate Boyfriend redesign), more acceptable levels of Interface Screw — complete with a proper Content Warning, and thematically appropriate music. The conflict on the FNF reddit when the mod released, with posts regarding WI as better and SNS as worse, only adding fuel to the fire. This was also enforced due to Box Funkin and the of SNS dev team not being on the best terms, especially after Star_Lyt, SNS‘s director at the time, lied about a collab between the two mods. Though, the rivalry between the two communities has seemingly been set aside after SNS got a new director with a noticeable uptick in quality as well as when Box Funkin featured the upcoming 2.5 update in the Unboxing Direct.
  • Older Than They Think: The Accelerant remix isn’t made for this mod, but rather, for the mod Battered originated from: Friday Night Funkin': Antipathy.
  • Heartwarming Moments: In the second version's happy ending, Minnie, who had been revealed to have NOT cheated on Mickey after all, rushes in just in time to snap her husband out of his insanity and clear up the misunderstanding that occurred. This soon comes down to one final song and the two happily reconciling. In addition, Girlfriend, who had been absent up to that point, arrives in good time to see the happy commotion.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song:
    • Many people have noticed the song "Unknown Suffering" sounds incredibly similar to Friday Night Funkin' Lullaby's song "Left Unchecked".
    • Similarly, it has been pointed out that the beginning of “Last Day” sounds quite a bit like “Strength of Will”. Of course, this only applies to the version of the song that was leaked. In the build that was officially released, the song doesn't have that bit.
    • Certain parts of "Hellhole" sound a bit like "Bad Apple".
  • The Woobie:
    • Mickey suffers quite a lot during this mod. Having been left thinking his wife cheated on him, he drugs himself and only gets worse over the course of his week, even with Boyfriend's intervention. This leads him to suicide at the end of the Bad Ending, which makes his suffering even worse, though he does snap out of his insanity and reconcile with Minnie in the Happy Ending... only for Satan to kill him anyways.
      • As if it weren't bad enough for Mickey, after the Good Ending, Satan wears out Mickey's soul and reincarnates him into various unsettling forms with no memory of his past life. Said reincarnations don't fare out well either. Julian is a monkey stuck in a suit resembling his past life's skin. And although he is friendly, and his week appears to be Lighter and Softer than the rest, he is internally suffocating and eventually dies. Cheddar is even worse, being a living statue having been reduced to a childlike state, only able to remember simple nursery rhymes and short melodies, and begs for food (which he generalizes as cheddar). He eventually dies of starvation.
    • Minnie ends up getting Mistaken for Cheating at the beginning of the mod, so it's easy to understand just how scared she was for her husband. Imagine how painful it would be for her to have found him dead in the Bad Ending. Thank goodness she arrives in good time in the Happy Ending.
    • Boyfriend gets this tenfold in the Bad Ending. Clinging on for dear life from a portal, he tries to talk Mickey out of his suicide, but fails, watching helplessly as Mickey does the deed. When he ends up in hell, he's reduced to a quivering wreck, and even breaks into tears after Satan shows up. The Good Ending isn't much better. He gets cursed by Satan to watch Mickey slowly wither away, forever. In both timelines, he'll never get to see his son or any future descendants of his due to being trapped in hell.
