• Growing the Beard: Like a number of TV Tropes play-by-post threads, We Have All Become Pokémon started as basically a plotless goof-off thread with little story to speak of beyond the titular Excuse Plot. However, the hints at something bigger and grander at play started dropping around the encounter with Dras-Il and the first meeting with Serris, and toward the end of the first Silversand arc, much of the over-arching story, characterizations, and tone going forward were firmly in place.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: One of the most egregious examples of Early-Installment Weirdness is the existence of a rock band "Swoop Up Your Dreams," which would not be compatible with the pre-industrial setting the thread takes place in. Come Pokémon Sword and Shield, which introduced Toxtricity and Rillaboom (both Pokémon designed to be a guitarist/bassist and drummer respectively), and the idea is now more plausible.
