YMMV / Warm Bodies

  • Adorkable: If someone told you there was such a thing as an adorable zombie, you'd probably laugh in their face... until you see this movie. Everything from R's music collection to his knick-knacks to his self-deprecating inner monologue to his constant shrugging adds up to without a doubt the most adorable zombie ever.
  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Does Grigio really believe (correctly or incorrectly) that his city is all that's left of humanity in the entire world, or is it a lie maintained for morale or control?
  • Awesome Music: R is a big music buff and there are quite a few Love Theme moments, so the film has a pretty good soundtrack which seems to play at all the right moments for good emotional impact. Some examples are "Missing You", "Patience", "Hungry Heart", and "Yamaha".
  • Narm: The name "Boneys" can be giggle-worthy for some people, though given that the movie is a dark comedy, it's almost certainly intentional.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The vicious Boneys (who have torn off their skin to expose the bones beneath) can be pretty creepy at times when they're threatening M or hunting for R and Julie.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Chris Cavener and Christian Paul are pretty memorable as unnamed soldiers who fight alongside the cured zombies during the climax.
Soldier: Who the hell do we shoot?
    M: This asshole.
  • Signature Scene: M and the other zombies at the airport regaining their emotions and humanity due to R's example is one of the most iconic moments of the movie, even without featuring either member of the Official Couple.
  • Spiritual Successor: To My Boyfriend's Back, very loosely.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not for Little Girls?: The premise of a girl falling in love with a man-eating monster and redeeming him through The Power of Love has caused both the book and the film to be compared to the book series The Twilight Saga. Warm Bodies has done much better with reviewers, especially adults and males.
  • The Woobie:
  • Julie has lost her mother, boyfriend and several of her friends to the Zombie Apocalypse, her father is so obsessed with building his wall and protecting the rest of humanity that he's become emotionally detached from her, and the city she lives in is a desolate wasteland where she must regularly risk her life just to continue to survive. Somebody just give the poor girl a hug already!
