YMMV / Warhammer: Time of Legends

Go To

  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Plenty to go around.
    • Malekith: A flawed but ultimately noble man who fell prey to his inner demons and the manipulations of Morathi? Or a spoiled brat who couldn't handle not getting his own way?
    • Bel'Shanaar: A good and noble king? Or an inept fool who took credit for the accomplishments of better men?
    • Thutep: A commendable idealist? Or too naive for his own good?
  • Crosses the Line Twice: When Nagash gathers potential followers, he kills one of them in an horrific manner for refusing to join him. He then demands that they sign their names on paper declaring allegiance to him. When Arkhan asks if they would sign their names in blood, Nagash sarcastically responds:
Nagash: "Blood? Certainly not. What do you take me for, some kind of barbarian?"
  • Narm:
    • While hunting for Alith in Shadow King, Alandrian refers to Ashniel as a "cold bitch" while the latter is casting an ice spell. Really Gav?
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
    • In spite of him being the closest thing the War of Vengeance trilogy has to a main antagonist, Caledor the second actually has a fairly limited amount of page time and as a consequence his personality and motivations are never really explored that much beyond him being a racist, arrogant Jerkass with daddy issues.
    • Malekith's half siblings Morelion and Yvraine are barely present in the narrative. Yvraine, the Everqueen of Ulthuan, gets a small role in the third book where she battles Morathi for control of Avelorn, and a handful of short scenes in the earlier novels. Morelion is even worse off, not even making a physical appearance and being given only a token hand wave to justify his absence.
    • Similarly, Nagash's brother Thutep receives little focus or characterization before his death.
    • Both Khalidas. We're told they're legendarily fierce and cunning warrior queens of their respective cities, but don't actually get to see much of it. Indeed Khalida Neferher only makes a handful of appearances prior to the duel between her and Neferata, where she is killed.
