YMMV / Warcraft Expanded Universe

Go To

  • Author's Saving Throw: One of the major components that receives praise from the fandom is that the Expanded Universe gave the Dragon Aspects, most notably suffered a major case of They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot from the game, ton of focus and interesting storylines. Novels focus on the Dragon Aspects most notably receive much more praise (or at least tolerance in flaws that is present from previous works) and excitement from the audience.
  • Heartwarming Moments: Of Blood and Honor is a spotlight tale for Tirion Fordring and Eitrigg Blackrock that shows the first kernals of hope that the war could end in peace for both sides of the conflict. Initially fighting eachother after Tirion investigates potential Horde activity, they quickly realize that both of them are men of honor when Tirion gives his opponent time to find his footing, and Eitrigg returns the favor by sending him home after part of the tower collapses onto him. What results is a brotherhood that, despite resulting in Tirion's excommunication and being stripped of The Light, is one he refuses to forsake just to maintain status. After Eitrigg is captured and sentenced to be publicly executed, he refuses to accept it as an end for an honorable warrior and manages not just rescue and heal a grievously injured Eitrigg, but prove that The Light is something that, for ill or good, cannot be stripped from someone who knows what they do to be righteous.
