YMMV / War of the Worlds (2019)

• Broken Base: Some viewers who are familiar with the source material and have watched this would have preferred a production company that would make a faithful adaptation based on the original novel set in the 19th century (they got their wish in another series of the same year). Other viewers who've seen it don't mind having a modern adaptation of the novel.
• Epileptic Trees:
  • After the end of the first season, viewers/critics suggested that the vision Emily and Sacha are seeing with each other after interacting with the quadrupedal bots is some sort of game plan by the aliens similar to Adam and Eve. Season 2 confirms that they got together in the future and had a child, who becme the progenitor of the Transhuman Aliens.
  • An alternate view is that whatever Emily discovered in the alien vessel is something related to her with the same tattoo on her arm. Likely a future relative of hers. Season 2 confirms that the being is a descendant of hers in the future.
• I Knew It!: Many viewers/critics suspected that the Human Alien Emily meets after the first season is one of her future descendants.
• Nightmare Retardant: Many, many viewers have pointed out adapting out the Tripods in favor of robot dogs (which look suspiciously similar to a a robot made by Boston Dynamics called Spot) makes the Invaders seem much less intimidating.
