YMMV / War of the Gargantuas

• Ass Pull: The climax involving the volcano, It comes out of nowhere and it's never actually specified how the Gargantuas were killed by it. Slightly justified since the film DID have a different ending...
• Even Better Sequel: While Frankenstein Conquers the World is considered quite a solid movie by many fans, War of the Gargantuas is considered one of Toho's best and most underrated kaiju films.
• Narm: The American cut of the movie gave Gaira and Sanda the creative names of... Brown Gargantua and Green Gargantua.
• Sequel Displacement: While both films are fairly obscure outside of kaiju fandom, this one gets much more play on television than Frankenstein Conquers the World. This can make the backstory about Frankenstein dying at the top of Mount Fuji somewhat confusing to first time viewers.
• Ugly Cute: Baby Sanda.
• Visual Effects of Awesome: The miniature work in the movie ranks among some of Eiji Tsuburaya's best work as Sanda and Gaira's smaller sizes allowed for more detailed and realistic-looking sets while the monsters' humanoid appearances made them more expressive. The suits being less bulky than most kaiju also allowed for the stunt actors to be more energetic and agile than the genre typically allows.
