• Broken Base: Her design. Should Wapeach have been designed as "ugly" or is the design just fine? Critics said Wapeach should've been ugly and not just another cute Mario girl as all the others, saying that making her ugly would've made her stand out. Defenders of the design say her being cute was the point as "Wa" characters are cartoonish parodies of their original characters. Wapeach takes Princess Peach's cuteness and exaggerates it by being a Deliberately Cute Child, and like the design for sticking to the concept and carefully designing her around Peach's features instead of slapping a pink nose on her and calling it a day.
• Common Knowledge: Upon her reveal, Wapeach's design was criticized for not being "ugly" like Wario and Waluigi, forgetting the whole original concept behind their design was to be twisted and exaggerated parodies of Mario and Luigi respectively, and not necessarily designed to be "ugly" (Waluigi in particular is shown to be quite a dashing fellow). Wapeach is an exaggeration of Princess Peach, and not "Wario/Waluigi in a Dress" as many arts thought of her as.
• Memetic Loser: Like her inspiration, Fanart depictions portray Wapeach as a bratty and childish Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain whom nobody takes seriously, tries to be evil and intimidating but is much too cute to be such, her plans always backfire in her face, either through sheer bad luck, or incompetence on part of her would-be "minions", Wario and Waluigi. And while she hates Princess Peach and views her as her rival, Peach either doesn't pay her much mind or finds Wapeach adorable and invites her to some tea or cake, frustrating her even more.
• Memetic Psychopath: This was bound to occur when fans saw Wapeach wielding an axe in the concept art and just ran with it. Depicting her as a Ax-Crazy Serial Killer. Supporting this is Aoki describing her as a cute girl with a scary side. You can use your imagination on what its actual/real purpose was.
• Self-Fanservice: Wapeach is a small and cute child-like girl in a purple skirt outfit that makes her look like a cat. So some fan art, like that of Nico--Neko, matures her up into a busty dominatrix in a black leather leotard.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: With Wapeach's identity revealed and the fact that she was cut out, this was the fanbase's natural reaction. With many speculating the intro cutscene to Mario Power Tennis was actually written with her in mind, and thought that would been an absolutely PERFECT introduction to the character. Instead, Bowser is put in her place instead to help Wario and Waluigi sabotage the tournament. Quite a few fanarts go the extra mile by redrawing scenes with Wapeach in place of Bowser.
