- Les Yay: Some of Jade's impassioned declarations of love for her friend verge on the romantic. There's also a scene where she and Vicky's ghost sleep in each other's arms.
- What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: Although the principal characters are in their early-mid teens, Wilson's books are often read by an even younger audience. The descriptions of Vicky's accident and death are quite graphic. Vicky's ghost also says that she's disappointed that she won't be able to find out what sex is like.
