Jerkass Ball: Lisa, making out with Zoë during their date, accidently comes to realize that Zoë has a penis — which not only drives her to accuse Zoë of lying to her about being a girl (she just assumes Zoë is a crossdresser, not transgender), she also has to add that Zoë was probably going to drug and rape her, nevermind the fact that it was Lisa who initiated the making-out in the first place.
A combination of Mood Whiplash and poorly executed Wangst causes this a lot. Expect people to frequently burst into tears in the middle of any situation.
Nina is meant to be seen as a legitimate threat and a Knight of Cerebus for the entire comic, but to some readers, she just comes off as a Saturday-Morning Cartoon villain due to how over-the-top her demeanor is.
Values Resonance: When the webcomic began, teenagers transitioning was all-but unheard of. With it becoming commonplace to transition at younger and younger ages, the comic's messages have become more resonant with time.
