  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Depending on your preferences, The Hideaway might be your atmosphere with its low stakes gambling and a homey scene of what looks almost like a quaint living room with a Craps table in the center and a relaxed group of people playing.
  • Once Original, Now Common: When this game was released, there wasn't a huge selection of electronic casino games available and this was a potentially satisfying way for a Super Nintendo Entertainment System player to role play as a gambler in Vegas without betting real money. The only competitor to Vegas Stakes on SNES was Super Caesars Palace. The main draw of the later was that it was a licensed game based upon the real life Ceasar's Palace casino, but it otherwise lacked a fleshed out story mode. However, in the time since the game's release in 1993, many an assortment of casino game compilations became available with an even greater assortment of games and many include online play so that you may play against real people from around the globe.
  • Unintentional Period Piece: The portrayal of casinos here really dates the time period to 1993. The slot machines are coin-operated while most modern slots use e-ticket vouchers (ticket-in, ticket-out) to reduce the number of moving parts and the sanitary issues with how much dirt those coins accumulate; video slots have also become widespread in casinos along side traditional mechanical slots (which often include video game elements too). Additionally, the poker variant played here is Seven-Card Stud while Texas Hold'em has replaced it as the most popular poker format around the globe and new variants like Video Poker have become popular as well.
