YMMV / Uno: The Movie

Go To

  • Accidental Aesop: Provides a very interesting Prisoner's Dilemma allegory without being intentional at all. When people are trapped in unendingly horrific circumstances, it is unwise to keep on selfishly going after your own success over others'. Only by working together can you and everyone else get a happy ending.
  • Good Bad Bugs: In the video, Gavin's game glitches up and the purple mist that appears behind the +X Cards pop-up stays on his screen for the remainder of the game.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • Think back to how much everyone liked how the first Uno video went and wanted to play it again. Really think about that.
    • Earlier in the video, Gavin joked that the video might be their longest one yet; that was 18 minutes in, and he couldn't be any more right.
    • Geoff at one point screams "I haven't seen my wife in two weeks!" It's Played for Laughs, but not long after this video, Geoff and Griffin announced their divorce.
    • As of October 2020, pretty much everything in this video involving Ryan, owing to his alleged sexual abuse of underage female fans and subsequent firing from Rooster Teeth.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Since it's the second Uno game played that day, they introduce Uno: The Movie as "Uno Dos." In 2018, Mattel released a sequel to Uno named Dos.
    • The Red 7, since there's an actual card game called Red7. The titular card also has the highest value in the deck.
    • Naming it Uno: The Movie has become funnier since the announcement that rapper Lil Yachty really is going to develop a heist movie based on Uno.
  • Memetic Mutation:
  • Older Than They Think: Four months before the AH team posted their movie, YouTuber CartOoNz made a video with the same title.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Jeremy's wife Kat only appears briefly during a phone conversation with him, but the fact that the call was necessary in the first place because the game is taking so long and that she spends her time in the video lecturing Gavin for giving Jeremy cards means she leaves quite an impression.
  • Signature Scene: Somehow, this video manages to have several.
    • Ryan finally getting to leave but not before screwing Gavin over from taking the win and ensuring the game will go on for more than an hour after his departure.
    • Gavin trying to psych Jeremy out by saying he has a green when he really has a red, hoping Jeremy will pick red by accident, but Jeremy being so desperate to leave that he calls green.
    • Jeremy calling his wife to let her know he's going to be home late because the game is going on for so long, with Kat chewing out Gavin for giving him cards while she's there.
    • The moment when Jeremy finally wins the entire game, to everyone's pure excitement, as well as the credits sequence that follows.
  • That One Attack:
    • 7s force players to swap hands. The red 7, in particular, became memetic for its constant use and one that just kept getting swapped around until Jeremy used it to get rid of it.
    • Any card that forces the next player to draw more cards.
    • 0s make players cycle hands, potentially ruining good hands or prolonging a round.
