• Catharsis Factor: Michael shooting Pete dead is definitely satisfying. You don’t even care if it’s not an elaborate death because you only think about all the damage Pete caused beforehand and you’re just too willing to see that nutcase die.
• Complete Monster: Officer Pete Davis at first appears to be friendly and helpful towards a couple whose home is broken into, but he is steadily revealed as a violent psychopath when he abducts the man who committed the break-in and savagely beats him to a pulp. Soon after, Pete begins to stalk the couple and develops an obsession with the wife Karen. When the husband Mike tries to complain about Pete, Pete uses his connections in the LAPD to ruin Mike's career. When Pete's partner Roy begins catching on, Pete murders him and pins the crime on an innocent man, shooting him in the back as well. Pete's obsession eventually reaches its peak and he murders Karen's friend before trying to rape her and kill her and her husband, judging her to just be "another worthless whore.
• Diagnosed by the Audience: Pete clearly appears to have signs of being afflicted with Borderline Personality Disorder mixed with clear sociopathy. He idealizes Karen and Michael as personal friends as soon as he meets them, ultimately developing a delusional long-lasting relationship with Karen, lashes out at them when they don't live up to his expectations, has short-lived mood swings, is unreasonably angry over trivial incidents, and blames others instead of himself for his personal failures. Michael telling him off is what caused him to really snap in the first place. He also ends up killing at least 3 people in full premeditation with no remorse whatsoever to accomplish his goals.
• Moral Event Horizon: Pete crosses it when he murders his partner Roy (because he threatened to go the higher ups in the LAPD about his stalking), frames an innocent man for killing him before shooting him in the back as well and after that he just goes from there........
