YMMV / Universe Sandbox

  • Awesome Music: The game's soundtrack has a fittingly epic feel to it, and each track has different versions depending on how intense the current simulation is, averting Soundtrack Dissonance entirely. Even then, it still manages to keep a calm feel, and it is very relaxing.
  • Friendly Fandoms: With the game Space Engine, which makes sense given both are scientifically-accurate space simulators. The two games were even included in a Steam bundle at one point.
  • Sequel Displacement: Largely the reason why the game's name was changed. While the original Universe Sandbox did have its fans, the sequel is much more well known thanks to being featured on Let's Play videos.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: While the graphics aren't on the level of Space Engine, the game can still be very pretty. The game has gone through plenty of Art Evolution, with updates such as atmospheric scattering and cities making any habitable planet into pure eye candy.
    • Stars are also very pretty. You can watch as the plasma flows on the surface, and the star will sometimes emit solar flares.
    • While the supernovae are extremely deadly, they are incredibly pretty to look at, being vivid, colorful gas clouds that expand over several light years.
