YMMV / Ultimate Otaku Teacher

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: In the anime, did Kagami bring Koutarou's ex-bullies to his class victory party to teach him how to face his fears, or is he just a heartless bastard who enjoys embarrassing him and making him relive his trauma?
  • Americans Hate Tingle: A lot of English readers dropped the series during the Group War saga after the arcs were felt to be getting more bizarre and convoluted. In Japan however, the series has continued to be extremely popular, and spawned a sequel after the first series ended with 146 chapters.
  • Arc Fatigue: A large majority of the readers found the Cherry Core arc (Chapters 106-113 specifically) to be painful to read through. For some, it could have been struggling to put up with the Nanase character. For others, it was a bizarre Story Arc that took the Uroboro's MMORPG game a lot more serious than it was supposed to be.
  • Escapist Character: Junichirou's penchant for being a Guile Hero with plenty of awesome moments where he wins the day through a combination of intelligence, outwitting any opponent who stands in his way, capturing the interest of multiple females(both platonic and romantic), and entertaining BadassBoasts makes him the kind of character you'd be hardpressed to NOT want to be.
  • Fan-Preferred Couple:
    • A lot of people prefer to ship Junichirou with the more adult-like members of the cast such as Koyomi, Tim or Yamato, over his many Teacher/Student Romances.
    • Among the students, Momozono x Nanami gained a following when the main campus group war started up due to occasional Ship Tease.
  • The Scrappy:
    • Nanase Yao; the character that Junichirou has to teach during the Cherry Core arc. He's basically Koutarou... but a hundred times worse.
    • Suzune in the anime has a lot of haters due to her rookie voice-actress...not being that good.
