• Broken Base: There were some complaints that fan favorite characters Wiccan and Hulkling from the previous New Avengers run were not part of the team. Some people found their absence to be a turn off, while some fans believed that a Young Avengers reunion (as was hinted at in the final issue of New Avengers) would be a much better place for them anyway.^note Said Young Avengers series never panned out, unfortunately.
• Funny Moments:
  • Issue 4 is an entire piss-take of events, complete with Deadpool and a stereotypical Mad Scientist named Victor Vandoom.
  • Issue 9 has Roberto taking out HYDRA goons with a bit of wall... while singing a modified version of the old Captain America cartoon theme.
  When Citizen V wields his mighty wall...
  • A Hydra goon declares that, like the Roman conquest of the Gauls, all of France has fallen to Hydra! ...well, not all of France.
  • Issue 11 gives us traditional 1930s gangsters. Who are aliens. In space. With robots.
• Heartwarming Moments: Issue #3. Before returning to her own time, Danielle Cage tells Squirrel Girl that she was the best babysitter she ever had. Doreen is surprised that Dani remembers, as she was just a baby at the time, no more than a year old.
• Moment of Awesome:
  • Issue 7: Ares vs. a French Hydra goon.
  Hydra Goon: You - you jumped onto the plane... what are you?
  Ares: Because you were weak, you worshipped strength over love. You worshipped me. Am I not what you want?
  (Ares uses his axe on the plane)
  Hydra Goon: No! No! Noooooo-
  (the plane crashes and explodes. Ares casually walks Out of the Inferno.)
  • Issue 8 has Toni create a way to regulate Roberto's power while in HYDRA's prison with almost no supplies and distract the guards with the story of how her father had the idea for the Iron Man suit.
