- Broken Base: Paul's lore. Half the chat wants something original, with the common interpretation that he's a pizza delivery boy who got roped into the quest on a delivery, while others want him to be the same Paul from Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl. A major part of it seems to be because of anime Paul's characterization, with half not wanting to control him because of hating him while the other half considers it a good comeuppance for his shenanigans in the anime, especially since he never got any comeuppance in the anime proper.
- Ensemble Dark Horse: Bucket the Diglett retained popularity even after being deposited, largely for its lore with PK Bat the Zubat (with the two often depicted as being close friends, with PK Bat carrying Bucket around on a bucket). After beating the final boss of the run, the mob even went back to the PC, retrieved Bucket, evolved it into Dugtrio, and entered it into the Hall of Fame.

- The Scrappy: Beedrill was widely hated, largely for being no more than cannon fodder for the majority of the run (although it had a few moments to shine). The mob was split in half on whether to keep the Bee or box the Bee, with many loud voices yelling for its release.
