YMMV / Twisted (2010)

Go To

  • Audience-Alienating Premise: It's a a book about monstrous rollercoasters that kill and eat people who so much as look at them wrong, but whom we're still supposed to regard as heroic. The idea of the main characters being living amusement park rides seems too childish for adults, but the gore and edginess of the content makes it inappropriate for children.
  • Designated Hero: Despite being treated as the story's hero, Railrunner slaughters a lot of innocent bystanders and cops without a hint of remorse. In the final battle, he destroys a Ferris wheel, even though he knows full well that doing so will doom it to being reborn as a Fallen.
  • So Bad, It's Good: This is a book about killer roller coasters. The bad grammar makes it even better.
  • Uncertain Audience: The book is loaded with swearing and violence unsuitable for a child, but the concept of killer were-roller coasters is too utterly off-the-wall for an adult to take seriously.
