The show eventually played a role in Serbians turning against the communist regime and protesting for democracy.. Rob Stewart, the star of the show, was completely ignorant of that until 2008, when his son introduced him to Facebook and he accidentally discovered a fan page for the series that already had almost 20 thousand likes. He received a hero's welcome when he visited the country and he subsequently produced a documentary about the experience and the show's impact on the country.
