• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • While it was played for Black Comedy when it was released, the fan film's take on the Jawa massacre (the Stormtroopers shoot the Jawas - a non-human alien species - for stealing "Imperial" droids and then resisting arrest by running away, followed by an Imperial Shuttle carrying out an airstrike on their unarmed Sandcrawler) becomes a bit harder to swallow after many Real Life high-profile police killings against racial minorities in the United States in the two decades after release, leading to many mass protests against Police Brutality. It got even worse in 2020, when the series the fan film was parodying was cancelled in response to these protests going global following the death of George Floyd (although it has since been brought back on Fox Nation). In the context of Star Wars, not helping the matter is that both canon and Legends Expanded Universe material frequently show the Empire being oppressive towards non-human alien species.
  • Related to the protests, Captain Bach telling the cameraman to turn off the camera at gunpoint after killing two Jawas becomes harder to swallow after reports of police arresting or using riot control equipment (sometimes resulting in permanent injuries) against journalists covering the protests.
