YMMV / Transformers Animated: Cybertronian Genesis

  • Complete Monster: Gigatron, from The Mercy of Prime, is Megatron's Bad Future counterpart who manages to disgust even his past counterpart. In his home timeline, Gigatron abandoned all the positive traits he had as Megatron and focused on the single-minded goal of absolute godhood by any means. Gigatron would absorb the sparks of everyone in his timeline with the ultimate goal of absorbing the AllSpark and becoming an all-powerful god. When that plan failed thanks to Bumblebee destroying the AllSpark of that timestream, he travels back to the past to do it all over again. Upon his arrival, he first Mind Rapes Optimus Prime by using the spark extractor to slowly and painfully kill him while showing Optimus images of him killing Sari before he proceeds to blow up the Steelhaven For the Evulz, killing all the scientists on board the ship. Later, Gigatron begins his attack on Cybertron to kill everyone in it all over again and complete his mission to absorb the AllSpark, only to beg for mercy after his plan is foiled. A self-absorbed, sociopathic maniac with delusions of godhood, Gigatron represents what Megatron would have become had he let his obsession with besting Optimus Prime, along with his pre-existing greed and callousness, overtake him.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Mercy of Prime did the whole "evil future self of one of the protagonists as the Big Bad" years before Season 3 of the The Flash (2014) did.
    • The fic has Soundwave/Slipstream as an Official Couple. In the 3DS version of Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, the Aligned duo are Co-Dragons to Megatron.
    • Sari reconstitutes Blurr with the AllSpark key after everyone learns what Shockwave did to him. The live script reading "The Return of Blurr" has the super speedy Autobot being revived via lingering AllSpark energy from Sari after she upgraded herself and it ends with Optimus and Jazz reconstituting Blurr via the AllSpark. Just like in this fic, Blurr treats the whole affair with annoyance at best.
