  • Angst? What Angst?: The characters react rather casually when Mikazuki reveals that the Government of Time is using them as disposable soldiers for the onslaught investigations, with Yamanbagiri Kunihiro being the only one who seems annoyed at Konnosuke's damningly silent confirmation, whereas Tsurumaru dismisses it to focus on the task at hand. This makes more sense later on when the characters reveal that they were always willing to die if it meant their Saniwa had a safe citadel to return to, but you'd think they'd be more concerned that the Government of Time doesn't care about them at all, or that someone would raise the possibility that the Government of Time had no intention of making good on their promise and was just baiting them into working for them.
  • Annoying Video Game Helper: The Touken Danshi become can get rather repetitive on replays because there is no way to disable them giving you advice on how to win battles, even if you've replayed the battle multiple times.
  • Awesome Music:
    • Continuing on the trend from the browser game and its adaptations, the soundtrack is pretty memorable, particularly when it comes to the Leitmotifs of the Touken Danshi.
    • Akiko Shikata, who has done previous musical works for the Touken Ranbu series, was once again brought on the compose several songs for the game, writing the opening song "Color Barrage", as well as the two beautiful endings theme "Honor" and "Time." She also composed five tracks for each team, although these don't appear in the game and can only be listened to on streaming services.
  • Enjoy the Story, Skip the Game: While the gameplay isn't bad, it's designed to be very beginner-friendly to those who are new to the Warriors-style of gameplay, which some gamers find too easy to enjoy. However, even those who dislike the gameplay tend to praise the games story.
  • Esoteric Happy Ending: The Golden Ending that can only be achieved by making the bonds between every character and Omokage. Sure, he gets to visit everyone in their dreams, but he's still otherwise trapped in the endless void that is the dream realm, alone, forever, with no chance of ever being able to free himself, nor will he be reunited with anyone in the real world ever again. It's only a small respite from what will otherwise be endless loneliness and boredom for him.
  • It's Easy, So It Sucks!: In addition to being more narrative-focused, the game lacks a "Hard Mode" on the first play through, only allowing the player to only play on "Easy Mode" or "Regular Mode" initially. While this was done to allow everyone, regardless of gaming ability, to enjoy the story, some players, particularly those who were unfamiliar with the source material but took an interest in the game anyway due to liking Warriors-style gameplay, disliked it as a result of finding it too easy to be enjoyable.
  • It's Short, So It Sucks!: For some, another criticism levied at the game is the length of the main game when it's paired with the games hefty $60 ($109 for the Deluxe Edition) price tag. It can be cleared in a little over 20 hours if the players powers through the main missions without doing any of the mini-games, Replays, Special Missions, or reading Bond Conversations, none of which are required for the main story to progress, which some felt made the game less worth the asking price.
  • The Woobie:
    • Omokage. He began the story as an insecure loner, and after experiencing new things, opening up, and making new friends while living among the Touken Danshi, he ends the story likely more alone than he had ever been due to his evil twins' actions, trapped in an endless void by himself for all eternity with the only respite from his isolation being visiting the Touken Danshi in their dreams, assuming you unlock the Golden Ending.
    • All of the other Touken Danshi, too. They're the only survivors of a devastating attack on their citadel, which resulted in the deaths of many of their friends and the unexplained disappearance of their Saniwa. Nearly all of them have Survivor's Guilt over being unable to protect their friends, and are at a point where they aren't bothered by the Government of Time's idea to use them as pawns in what could have been a suicide mission, as long as they made good on their promise to return their Saniwa.
