- Awesome Music: The soundtrack features many songs from Latin American musicians like Delinquent Habits and Molotov, helping to further enhance the game's Hispanic flavor. Delinquent Habits' "Return of the Tres" is often seen as the game's theme song due to playing on the title screen.
- Even Better Sequel: The PSP sequel/remake Chili Con Carnage, with open-world feature removed, cranked up the humor, Marco, who was a minor character in Total Overdose, became a supporting character, ability to dual-wield assault rifles and shotgun rifles, and Ramino became nicer than ever.
- Scrappy Mechanic: While the Max Payne-style gunplay and level-designs in missions are good, the free-roaming gameplay, which capitalized on the success of GTAIII and its follow-ups, is boring, with a map split into separate areas, wonky driving physics, and the lack of street layout on the mini-map. Thankfully, Chili Con Carnage remove the open-world feature.
