YMMV / Total Drama Switcheroo

Go To

  • Anti-Climax Boss: Switcheroni's Mystery Villain, a.k.a. Neil, was voted out the very episode he was revealed.
  • Base-Breaking Character:
    • Gene. Some say he is a boring Villain Sue, while others enjoy him for his villainous qualities.
    • In Switcheroni, Roy is either loved for his Lampshade Hanging and Only Sane Man attitude, or hated for being a huge Jerkass.
    • There's also Lynne, who's either loved for being a Determinator in the face of self-appointed leader Strike, or hated for being boring and uninteresting.
    • Skye is either an amusing trainwreck or Missy 2.0 depending on who you ask.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Kyle, full stop.
    • Noriko was booted early on because parrot assumed she'd be disliked for her similarities to Yu, only for her to become one of the most popular characters in the fic.
  • Ho Yay: Caleb and Rudy, to the point where some readers think they may actually end up together.
  • It Was His Sled: Neil being the Big Bad of Switcheroni was a huge twist when it was revealed. It'll be the first thing people talk about when discussing the story.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Mason.
    • Missy to an extent. While she is a major brat, she was genuinely heartbroken by Charlie's rejection.
    • Irene is this, considering the hints towards her Dark and Troubled Past and being threatened by an anonymous villain to perform team killing acts, all the while being rather short-tempered with her teammates.
  • Magnificent Bastard: Neil, considering he was able to successfully hide his identity throughout all of Switcheroni as a violent, blackmailing team killer until the day of his elimination.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Neil crosses it by torturing several of the contestants throughout the story. It gets even worse when he reveals his motive of being tormented by his schoolmates making it Disproportionate Retribution as none of them had anything to do with it.
  • The Scrappy: Missy as an intended example.
  • Shocking Elimination: Switcheroni has Cerise, Irene, and Rudy under its belt so far.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: How many people feel about Kyle leaving second.
  • Tough Act to Follow: Switcheroo came after the very popular Stranded and was followed by Uber Island (Which is considered the best in the series). Do the math.
  • The Woobie: Chance gets blackmailed for his sexuality, which, needless to say, takes a toll on him.
