YMMV / Total Drama: "Fun Fight at the O'Cake Corral"

  • Alternative Character Interpretation:
    • Were Wayne and Raj just being their usual Dumb Jock selves when it came to their antics this episode? Or were they, possibly subconsciously, trying to sabotage their teammate Julia for getting Bowie voted out? It's shown at the beginning of the episode that they were still mad at her and while they seemingly forgive her, it's possible there was still some resentment in there.
    • Similarly, Axel and Ripper did not do much to help MK out but their motivations for being The Load to her are not elaborated upon. Were they actually so much in love that they were completely distracted from helping MK or were they planning to deliberately throw the challenge so that MK would not win immunity and face elimination? Axel was angry that MK cheated in the past episode upon finding out and there was a scene where they tampered with the case mix that only required water, forcing MK to make the cake from scratch like the other teams. Then there was the scene where they took MK’s modeling chocolate so they could use it as pottery, placing MK at a further disadvantage.
    • Did Ripper reveal that his armpit sweat was used by Priya's team as yeast just out of stupidity or was he trying to prevent them from winning?
    • Did Ripper genuinely quit the show, being unable to bear being separated from Axel and worried about just "maybe" seeing her again, as she worded it, or was he just trying to stop her from leaving by taking down the Drone of Despair, which Chris just happened to count as quitting?
    • Julia mentions that she learned how to bake from working in her parents' bakery as a child and then follows that up with mentioning that she "only speaks to Judy and Greg through her lawyers now". Was this just another example of Julia being petty due to possibly seeing this as embarrassing or was she possibly exploited for child labor by her parents when she was younger? Bakeries can be dangerous places to work in due to the various amounts of ovens or heat that can be found, so the idea of letting a child work there might raise some eyebrows and if Julia got hurt and they still made her work there, that could go a long way to explaining her bitterness.
    • Speaking of Julia, she's visibly upset when she sics Owen on MK in order to sabotage her. Is she upset because she doesn't like hurting someone she's come to see as a friend over the competition? Or is she worried that this action might damage her alliance with MK?
    • Was Axel’s dismissal of Ripper’s heartfelt goodbye with a "Yeah, see ya, maybe" her way of breaking up with him, her being too distracted by the disappointment of her loss to register his emotions, her realizing her relationship with him may have been what cost her the million dollars, or was she just trying to be Cruel to Be Kind to make it so that Ripper wouldn’t be so torn up about her leaving and continue on in the competition? Given that she looked sad after what she had just said, there likely wasn’t any malice behind her saying it at least. On the other hand, Ripper and Axel were seen making out at the final campfire ceremony after Wayne’s victory.
  • Alternative Joke Interpretation: After Chris asks him what he's been up to, Owen replies that he took a nap and returned a book. Is the joke Owen's naivety causing him to misinterpret the question? Or is the (rather dark) joke that Owen's life has been so uneventful that taking a nap and returning a book are the only things worth mentioning?
  • Fridge Horror: Since Chris basically counted Ripper hitching a ride on the Drone of Despair as him quitting, Ripper is now the second person who owes the show one million dollars. And unlike Nichelle, who might have saved some money from her past career as an actress, Ripper definitely can't afford that...
  • I Knew It!: After Axel and Ripper hooked up and began acting like Sickeningly Sweethearts, not unlike Geoff and Bridgette during Action, a lot of people were able to predict that they would be eliminated together in a double elimination, also not unlike Geoff and Bridgette during Action. Many also saw the double elimination coming in Episode 7 again, which coupled with Axel and Ripper acting as The Load throughout the episode, made their elimination all the more predictable.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Long time Total Drama fans who renounced the reboot just because Fresh had all but abandoned the original cast were pleased to see Owen return, and not aged a day since he was last seen in Ridonculous Race, thus opening the door for other OG cast members to return.
  • Nausea Fuel: Given the size of the rhino's horn, it was clearly male. Think about that and realize how lucky Julia was that Raj & Wayne are too dumb to question what they "milked".
  • Realism-Induced Horror: Axel's claim that she'll "maybe" see Ripper again after her elimination brings a certain level of realistic horror no other couple in the show did. Since most couples met on the show for the first time, they'd have to count on their luck to live near each other or otherwise they'd be forced to have a long-distance relationship (as most contestants are 16 years old upon debut), which is certainly not for everyone. And while they might move in together once they reach adulthood, there's still a question of whether they'd be able to instantly afford living together on their own (especially since Ripper now owes the show a million dollars due to quitting), which would realistically make maintaining a relationship formed on a reality show that much harder.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: It's minor, but Owen looks and behaves the exact same as he did when competing on the show, even though fifteen years have passed In-Universe, which more or less renders The Reveal of a 15 years Time Skip between the reboot and the original series pointless, as it amounted to nothing.
