• Fan Nickname: The long title of the fic is often shortened to the acronym/initialism "TUMOASD".
• Harsher in Hindsight: A large part of the gags in the fic become a lot less funny after The Reveal of the true nature of the world...
  • Tommy's general childish demeanor and lack of consideration for consequences is funny at least in part because it's a sixteen-year-old acting like a little kid, especially in the chapters where he gets sick. Except Tommy isn't sixteen at all, he's twelve, and acts the way he does because he's desperate for comfort in his dying moments.
  • The Running Gag of Wilbur ordering Techno to jump out of windows and off rooftops becomes a lot less funny after the scene in the real world where, during the escape from the burning apartment, Techno misses his jump across to another rooftop and falls to his death. It doesn't help that Wilbur was the one to tell him to jump, and tried in vain to catch him.
  • Similarly to the above, Tommy shooting Wilbur with his dart gun becomes very hard to read after it's revealed that in the real world, Wilbur died in Tommy's arms after getting shot in the chest.
• Memetic Mutation: "hmm. how do i say this... i don't rlly like u guys lol i meannn i like u but umm this fandom is a little bit. mentally ill? no offence im sure u can't help it, but it's not rlly my style anymore 💔 so this is the Ultimate Unfollow Spree bc i'm leaving lol bye" ^Explanation On February 22, 2022, the author of TUMOASD posted this on Twitter upon their departure from the DSMP fandom, which quickly went memetic.
