  • Angst? What Angst?: None of the characters (Sakura or Archer, for example) seem to have any baggage over their canon backstories in this spin-off. Only slightly less so in Archer's case, as he does try to kill Shirou during the volleyball game, but even then it's still largely Played for Laughs.
  • Fan Nickname:
    • Shokugeki no Shirou or Fate/stay hungry for the series proper.
    • "Apron Boy" for Shirou, thanks to the show's insanely catchy opening theme.
    • Episode 11's Fan Nickname is a small but significant change in the title: EMIYA-san Chi no Kyou no Gohan, because it's not Shirou who's featured cooking, but Archer.
  • Funny Moments:
    • Lancer giving Shirou a good-natured slap on the back in episode 2. The force is so strong it leaves him doubled over at the table, complete with a small shock-wave and thunder sound effect for emphasis.
    • Another Lancer moment comes from episode 11 when Archer overhears Lancer begging for Shirou's help. Deciding to leave before Lancer notices him, he barely takes one step before Lancer practically teleports in front of him. He then tricks Archer into helping him at his job by comparing him to Shirou.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Saber makes a reference to Kamen Rider BLACK at one point. Come 2020, we get a series known as Kamen Rider Saber. It even gets a significant King Arthur-themed form early on that's blue.
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: One of Kiritsugu's regrets in Fate/Zero was Illya not being able to experience her Japanese heritage as well as having no one to care about her. Come episode 3 and she is experiencing Girl's Day and Hinamatsuri as the central character and a regular fixture in her brother's life.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • Episode 12 ends with a scene of Illya offering Berserker a cookie that she had made as a Christmas present, but sheepishly admits at its mediocre appearance and offers another, much more presentable one that Sakura had made. Cue Berserker unhesitatingly accepting the Illya-made cookie instead, to her delight.
    • Episode 13 ends with Saber telling Shirou how thankful she is to be blessed with such good times and interactions with the cast, as well as asking Shirou to always be there. Shirou replies in kind to her.
  • Moe:
    • Caster is in full cuteness mode, mostly because of her imagine spots and interactions with Kuzuki-sensei.
    • Saber looks adorably happy every time she eats good food, especially Shirou's.
    • Naturally, Illya falls under this during the Children's Day and Christmas episodes.
  • Moment of Awesome: Rider putting her A+ Riding skill to good use, getting her Badass Driver on during the Christmas Episode and getting everyone to Illya's castle in one piece, outright defying the laws of physics in the process.
  • Sweet Dreams Fuel: Oh lord yes. The series is effectively a Slice of Life about the original stay night cast with zero drama or angst. The first episode alone revolves around Shirou eating New Years Eve dinner with his family, and all of them are comfortable around a kotatsu.
