  • Alternative Character Interpretation: The young man appears when the protagonist overcomes her depression and connects her light, and takes her away if she touches him, implying he saves her and that she might fall in love with him. However, the protagonist glares at the man if he is nearby yet she hasn't touched him yet, and he will follow her sprite for some time before he eventually gives up, which may imply he, instead, might have held a part in her depression.
  • Awesome Music: The game wouldn't be nearly as good without it.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The start of the game is already pretty eerie (if in a low-key way), with the apparently unconscious protagonist sinking slowly through a dusky sea populated by nasty-looking (if mostly inert) shark creatures. But that is nothing compared to the "painful world," where the protagonist starts to swim upwards to the light, only for the shades to abruptly grab her and try to pull her back down as a tense music track plays and the player is treated to a flash of light every time one of them makes contact.
  • Tear Jerker: Boy howdy, yes. Especially if, like the girl in the game, you've been through depression yourself. Or are going through it while playing.
