YMMV / Toad Patrol

Go To

  • Adorkable:
    • Slippery Jack is a shy and clumsy nerd with glasses, bowtie, and No Social Skills.
    • Shaggy Mane, due to his clumsiness and overall vulnerability when compared to the rest of his group. This is also solidified when he becomes good friends with Slippery Jack.
    • Panther Cap, due to his shy and socially awkward nature. Although this changes in season two.
  • Awesome Music Just try to find one song in this series that isn't good.
  • Base-Breaking Character: Despite being a pitifully small fanbase, the fans seem to be evenly split on their opinion of Mistle Toad, one side calling him a Reasonable Authority Figure and the other calling him an Ungrateful Bastard exploiting the naïve Toad Patrol into doing all the work for him.
  • Cult Classic: Toad Patrol has gained a few fans over the years. There is a small group of people who truly appreciate the show. The show has gained a minor "I (vaguely) remember this show exists" reputation amongst millennial and Gen Z kids (as well as Gen Z Latinos who grew up watching the Spanish-dubbed reruns on what was then called Telefutura).
  • Memetic Mutation: Hating Mistle Toad became one thanks to a livestream pointing out that he left a bunch of orphans to fend for themselves, fully thinking they wouldn't last the season.
    • "Earth Star is dead." Explanation
    • Poorly Dubbed carrot grating. Explanation
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The entire show is this given the existence of Amphibia, a similar show aired on the same network as Toad Patrol, Toon Disney (now known as Disney XD).
  • Periphery Demographic: Given that the show was dumped by Toon Disney in an early-morning graveyard slot, it wasn't surprising that it picked up a bit of one from insomniacs and night owls who watched & liked.
    • It also doesn't hurt that in Canada the show continues to be kept in the public eye by the Run for the Toad still being held annually.
  • Popular with Furries: Many members of the fandom are also furries, and Beauty Stem, Shaggy Mane, and Cleopatra the Skunk have attracted quite a lot of furry fans.
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: Every year, toad children have to go through a rite of passage of sorts. They have to brave several dangers, including various predators, to reach a magical portal before the end of summer. If they don't? They turn into toadstools for (supposedly) all eternity! Keep in mind that this was a show that was made for younger kids.
  • The Woobie: Panther Cap. Earth Star also fills this role at times.
