- Awesome Music:
- The opening chase music. It's a funky track that gets your blood pumping for the rest of the film.
- The iconic ending theme. It's a trippy, spine-tingling mix between a funeral march and a lullaby.
- Critical Backlash: Upon its release, this French-Hungarian coproduction got trashed by critics in Hungary, who targeted all of its French aspects (writing, direction and mostly art design), arguing they're unfit for sci-fi. Ironically, many people nowadays regard Moebius' art influence as the best thing about the film.
- Cult Classic: According to its editor/sound editor at least, the movie was this in the US, though still overshadowed by Fantastic Planet.
- I Am Not Shazam: The Masters Of Time are an alien race, not the ship's crew.
- One-Scene Wonder: The titular Time Masters; their only shown member appears at the very end attending Silbad's funeral.
- Ugly Cute: The gnomes Yula and Jad◊, and a good number of the odd native animals.
- What Do You Mean, It's Not Symbolic?: The angels inhabiting Gamma 10 have been analyzed as a Take That! to Christianity and religion.
- Also, in contrast to the film's critique of Christian/Western religion, symbols from Eastern religion appear in a more positive light: "Mike" is a yin-yang, and the wise, superintelligent Yula & Jad emerge from a lotus.
