YMMV / Time and Eternity

Go To

  • Adorkable: Makimona's true personality once her "mysterious allure" facade drops is this, especially when she completely and utterly stumbles through a pretend love confession.
  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Depending on several player choices, Zack can either be a Knight in Shining Armor or Handsome Lech.
  • Bile Fascination: This game earned the reputation of being one of the worst RPGs ever due to so many glaring flaws (ranging from poor mechanics to an underwhelming story and cast). To the point that it's mostly considered a collector's item for the Playstation 3, because some gamers just want to find out how bad the flaws can ruin the game.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: A lot of Towa's humor comes from this and her being The Comically Serious when it comes to using that knife of hers.
  • Cult Classic: Despite having a very negative mainstream reputation, there is a small group of dedicated fans who love it for its art direction and moments where the story is good.
  • Demonic Spiders:
    • Vampire-type monsters as they can get up in your face, lower your sword attack and physical defense, then just wail away on you and drain on your HP without giving you time to cast any magic unless you have Anti-Knockdown or a Blowback skill equipped. The worst offender is the Dark Stalker, as unlike other vampire enemies, they don't retreat back on their own and like to spam their sword strikes.
    • Both Robot types as well since they love to spam attacks that will interrupt any skill you're trying to execute. Unless you know how to dodge or guard, they'll give you a lot of trouble.
  • Difficulty Spike: Some areas will pit you against enemies that you aren't prepared for, but the biggest offender is the Chapter 3 boss, who is harder than the final boss.
  • Fridge Horror:
    • Reijo had to have been under considerable amounts of endless stress while trying to come up with a means of breaking her contract with Netherdrake for three months before the actual wedding when she was forced to stab Toki. Or worse, Netherdrake took control of her long before then to keep her from attempting to break it.
    • Several forests near Kamza are haunted and the heroes are lucky to be able to see the undead thanks to Ricardo's cake, but how many people have been killed by them without knowing what hit them?
  • Game-Breaker:
    • Chemistry. Once either girl learns the four basic elemental spells she can fire them off in combinations to debuff the enemy or inflict status ailments. The Bolt + Frost combo inflicts Silence, and since most bosses rely almost entirely on magic to attack, they will sit their helplessly as you whittle away at their health. And even if Toki/Towa doesn't have the necessary magic, they can use Dragon of Insight to get Drake to aim for triggering Chemistry instead.
    • Time Magic, especially Time Surge and Time Freeze. Time Freeze is Exactly What It Says on the Tin and time is stopped long enough for you to buff your character or hit the enemy with at least one Chemistry attack. Time Surge simply speeds up the player character but lasts at least twice as long as Time Freeze and allows the player to unleash an endless barrage of attacks.
      • Chemistry + Time Surge + Toki's rifle attacks (she can fire endlessly) to whittle away at health or rebuild SP = Boss Killer
  • Most Wonderful Sound: The enormous splashes that Netherdrake and Moebiusdrake make after defeating them and they go tumbling into the water.
  • Player Punch: The normal ending. One of Toki or Towa will fade from existence and you have to make that choice.
  • Spiritual Successor: The battle system is one to the one from Black Rock Shooter: The Game as both games were developed by Image Epoch.
  • That One Boss: The final boss of Chapter 3 as she has attacks that are either hard to dodge or outright unavoidable, will remove all of your buffs, silence you, and she cannot be Silenced (using Chemistry) for very long. Even utilizing Time Magic doesn't make her that much easier. Her starting move is also a guaranteed OHKO unless you have the up-to-date equipment and the necessary precaution to stop her, like Chemistry Silence. And, even worse, her rematch fight is the first boss fight of Chapter 4!
  • That One Level: The Wind Plains in Chapter 2 is the hardest level in the game, due it being full of robotic Demonic Spiders.
