• Audience-Alienating Premise: The story of a young girl spending time with the bloating corpse of her father, fantasizing about detached Barbie heads, and kissing a mentally-handicapped man didn't attract much of an audience.
• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Plenty of em. To be fair, the movie's story is pretty loose in the first place.
  • The Rock concert seems to have nothing to do with anything.
• Nausea Fuel:
  • Noah's decaying corpse, complete with the flies and postmortem gas.
  • Every single time Jeliza and Dickens kiss.
• Squick: The "romance" between Jeliza Rose and Dickens has this effect on a lot of people too due to the characters' ages. The implied romance between Dickens and Jelizas grandmother, and finally Dell appearing to make out with Noah's corpse.
• Took the Bad Film Seriously: As controversially unpleasant as the movie is, the cast is almost always singled out as its saving grace, especially considering just what they end up doing in this movie.
• The Woobie: Calling Jeliza Rose this would be the understatement of the century. Raised by abusive drug-addicted parents, loses them both within a day of each other after being dragged to a place she hardly recognizes, ends up finding the closest thing she's received to solace in two mentally unstable hillbillies, one of whom is attracted to her, and finally witnessing a horrific train crash, though at least it has a chance of leading her to a better life.
